Theme of the workshop:

The Green Classrooms project aims to bring new generations closer to and reconnect them with the territory of the Val di Fiastra, in the province of Macerata, both in its natural and cultural components and identity.

Through a network of classrooms in the valley, the project aims to stimulate the daily contact of schools with local ecosystems, to foster a didactic approach attentive to the themes of sustainability and environmental awareness, and to involve families and the entire community in the educational process.

The Camposaz workshop is in fact the final moment of a process of co-design and shared education that has been going on for two years in the area, involving many local realities.

Starting from prototypes developed by students of the Department of Architecture and Design of the University of Camerino (UniCam SAAD) on the basis of suggestions deriving from pupils, students and their parents of the Val di Fiastra, the workshop will consist of creating classrooms whose walls have horizons from which the local landscape can be perceived and admired, relating it to global processes.

Who can participate:

Camposaz is a design and self-construction workshop of 1:1 scale wooden architectural objects designed to interact with the landscape and its inhabitants.

The call is open to 12 designers of different backgrounds and professional training, whom the Camposaz association will select and guide for ten days in the design and realisation of the artefacts. The aim is to create a temporary group capable of integrating the processes of conception and practical construction of a work. During the workshop, the participants will have to conceive and realise wooden artefacts, inspired by the thematic suggestions provided by the organising bodies and the host community, developing a design and construction approach that is environmentally aware, practical and in close relationship with the host context.

The workshop is free of charge.

To participate, only membership of the Camposaz association is required. The membership fee is 15€, to be paid online before the workshop starts. The membership fee is valid for the current year and includes insurance cover for the duration of the activity.

During the workshop you will be camping near the site area, so you need to bring your own tent, sleeping bag and mattress.

If you do not have camping equipment, it will be possible to stay overnight in a nearby gymnasium equipped with temporary beds. The main meals will be provided by the host organisation.

How to apply:

Participants will be selected on the basis of a motivational letter (maximum 200 words) and a project representative of their understanding of architecture (maximum 1-2 A4 pages).
