The international seminar “Practicing, Teaching and Gender Equity” is part of the CRAFT Open Forum “Feminine and Feminist Architecture. This Space/Place is [Not] for You” (https://craft.dastu.polimi.it/it/open-forum/103), which addresses gender equality in architecture.

The initiative aims to provide operational, interpretive, and in-depth tools on the themes of equity, inclusion, and the social responsibility of architecture. The program is articulated in two thematic sessions.

The first, “Gender Equity in Architectural Education and Professional Culture,” concerns the institutional, educational, and professional dimensions in the discipline, with references to practices and policies for diversity and inclusion, to the “Gender Equality Plan” of the Politecnico di Milano, to the condition of women in the architectural profession, and to the contribution of RIBA, in particular through the report “Build It Together,” produced with the Fawcett Society.

The second session, “Unveiled Histories in Architectural Pedagogies and Practices,” deepens the contribution of women to architecture, in relation to teaching, professional practice, and the rereading of women’s contributions to the discipline, as well as to experiences developed in the Milanese and national context. The program includes: an introduction by Cassandra Cozza; a first session in English with the interventions of Mara Tanelli, Sumita Singha, Emily Jeffers and Elke Krasny; a second session in Italian with the contributions of Ilaria Valente, Claudia Mattogno, Francesca Claudia Scotti, Claudia Bruno and Carolina Pacchi.

The event constitutes an opportunity for updating and exchange among universities, professional bodies, scholars, professionals and students on the themes of gender equality and inclusion in contemporary architectural culture.
