Carlo De Carli - Corollary

17.3 - 7.5.2025

Curatorship: Lola Ottolini, Margherita De Carli, Claudio Camponogara, Gianni Ottolini e Roberto Rizzi

The law of architectural composition does not exist, there is the making of Architecture that rejects manuals and ‘types’ and ‘trends’, never research... we need a critical reading of history, to detect the reasons for the process of the formation of architecture, the values of ‘case’ and ‘place’, ... highlighting the true continuous substance of response to human needs.

Carlo de Carli

From 17 March to 7 May 2025, the exhibition Carlo De Carli Corollario, at the Politecnico di Milano, brings to the forefront the work of De Carli, one of the protagonists of Italian architecture and design after World War II.
Furniture, drawings, models, paintings and original mimeographs of his lectures delivered daily to students, editorials written for the magazines he edited - Il Mobile Italiano (1957-1960) and Interni (1967-1971) - as well as cards, letters and drawings from friends and colleagues such as Carlo Mollino, Gio Ponti, Luigi Moretti, Lucio Fontana, Roberto Sambonet, Marco Zanuso, Giovanni Muzio and Mario Sironi. These are among the unpublished and original materials, never exhibited in such large numbers and on such a single occasion, at the centre of the Carlo De Carli Corollario exhibition, organised and hosted by the Politecnico di Milano from 17 March to 7 May 2025 and curated by Lola Ottolini, Margherita De Carli, Claudio Camponogara, Gianni Ottolini and Roberto Rizzi.
